Label Love vol 7

Label Love is an independent compilation series presented via Bandcamp by sound pioneers Tru Thoughts, offering free music from some of the best independent labels - Tru Thoughts, Soundway, !K7, Finders Keepers, Five Easy Pieces, World Circuit, Erased Tapes and ZZK, to be specific. Vol 1 was released back in June of 2010 and it was pure quality. The 7th edition in the series was just released and I swear, these compilations just keep getting better. The word diversity doesn't come even close to covering it. There is no one genre present hear and yet the album plays seamlessly.

Highlights for me are Rival Consoles track Helios from the Erased Tapes stable – electronic dance-floor bliss: Nicola Cruz's track La Mirada – tropical dub from the ZZK label ; Dexter Story's piece, Eastern Prayer, featuring the lovely Nia Andrews and brought to you via Soundway Records – sublime, perfect; one of my all time favorite Sun Ra tracks, When There is No Sun which is just gorgeous seventies-style jazz fusion released by Strut and the cream of the compilation for me... the track Amaotayku Avelino Sinani (El Remolon Remix) by Luzmilla Carpio also on ZZK. I'd never heard of this artist before but I will for sure be keeping my ears wide open for future releases. This list is not to detract from the other offerings. It's all quality. 16 top shelf gems for your listening pleasure. It's on high rotation here at Kiss the Core headquarters.
